It’s no secret that the Greek Islands offer some of the most stunning views in the world. Picturesque towns, ancient architecture and dazzling waters provide a rich textural backdrop for any photoshoot. Maideh & Sakis’ day after session was shot in the old town of Chania, Crete and its scenic harbour. Meandering through the narrow cobbled streets we photographed the couple in numerous scenarios – almost as if inviting the city to be its own personality in the images. Chania, as many Greek Island villages do, has a beautiful muted color palette perfectly complimenting the occasion. The colors and textures are evident but never overpower the subjects.

In addition to capturing their romance in the charming streets of the old town, we took Maideh & Sakis to the ancient harbor of Chania. The water perfectly complimented their tender romantic spirits – ever changing yet immutable. The relaxed nature of a private shoot allowed us to further our connection with the newlyweds. Shooting from a fine art perspective, this connection with the couple is tantamount to the artistic success of our images and produces incredible results. In addition to Maideh & Sakis’ wedding day photos, their romance was explored in an atmosphere more in tune with their life – away from the crowds and excitement. Just two young people in love.
Whether newly engaged or married, a mini shoot is a great way to slow down and delight in the moment. Absent are the guests, the expectations and the agenda. Working in this intimate context we are free to move about and shoot on location virtually anywhere our imagination takes us and, as the biggest of the Greek Islands, Crete offers endless possibilities.
